Ta-Ku: Latenyc, Dusty, 50 Days for Dilla

Perth's Ta-Ku recently uploaded a collection of short, untitled instrumentals that he has dug out from the dark corners of his hard drive and dusted off for your listening pleasure.

Having already put releases out on Brownswood, Project Mooncircle, Soulection & Darker Then Wax, Reggie Matthews still manages to find time to compile various beat-tapes, such as the 50 Days for Dilla one embedded at the bottom of this post; produce beats internationally for the likes of Cyhi The Prynce (G.O.O.D Music), John Robinson, Raashan Ahmad, Joe Scudda, Bobby Blunt, Outasight, Kid Daytona, Phil Ade, Raaka (Dilated Peoples); and fly half way around the world to New York!

Dusty is coming hot on the heels of that New York venture following which came the fantastic LateNYC release last December, and it also serves as a heads up for the Scarlette LP, due out next month. Both are embedded below for your listening and you can grab them either on the Bandcamp, or over on the HW&W site.

Again it's sample heavy soul-shuffle all round from the production machine Ta-Ku. For the amount he churns out, this cat must be in possession of doc's flux capacitor!

Evil Needle: Mood

Soulection’s last project by BMB AKA SpaceKid AKA WayneTweed was incredible. As was the one before that, Sankofa, by AbJo. Onto their fifth release already, this one is called “Mood” and it’s by Evil Needle. The very same Evil Needle that dropped the mind blowing instrumental project “Cirrostratus” from earlier this year. “Mood” is no different, don’t sleep!

Soulection #35: Full Crate & Anthony Valadez

This show was one for the books! I had two individuals who I've grown up listening to for the pasts couple of years come in and vibe with me. This is monumental for Soulection. Full Crate out of Amsterdam (Producer/DJ/Engineer/Sound Designer) & LA's own Anthony Valadez (KCRW - DJ/Radio personality, Producer) laid down an interview and played some selections that they are really feeling at the moment. I started off the show with a SUPREME line up/selection of artists from all over the globe. This is definitely a show that you want to listen to. So much talent within, and Full Crate & Ant V are really cool, humble, and innovating people. Listen for Anthony Valadez cover for Mar on an instrumental!

Ta-Ku: 24

This '24' Beat Tape is a testament to the technology age we live in. Being a big fan of SOULECTION it was crazy to think I could make a beat one night and 2 hours later, email it straight to Joe Kay for it to be played to the world that very same day. Inspired by Joe's fine selection of music - I decided to see how many beats I could bump out and polish in a 24 hour period.

Ta-Ku, a recent Redbull Music Academy participant (Barcelona '08) has gone from strength to strength and has released a plethora of beat tapes and with releases set to drop in 2011. This future beat maker is inspired from the likes of Dilla, Häzel, Onra, Fs Green, B. Bravo & Dibiase. He has produced beats internationally for artists like Cyhi The Prynce (G.O.O.D Music), John Robinson, Raashan Ahmad, Outasight, Kid Daytona, Phil Ade, Raaka (Dilated Peoples) and more. Herein lies 13 Soulful, Eclectic, & Future-Fusion heaters all in one release, of which all proceeds once again go directly to Japan.

Be sure to keep your ears sharp for a 12" release coming from Ta-Ku and Kit Pop entitled 'Bounce. Out on Paper Chain Record and featuring remixes from DIZZ 1 & THE BLESSINGS, it promises alot.

B.Lewis - Science Within Reason

Been digging a whole lot of B.Lewis' Electric/Soul laced beats for a hot minute already. Featuring heavily on the latest soulection, he's back after a slight hiatus with this new project Science Within Reason, a monster-volume of beats, remixes & 1 or 2 emcee collabos for good measure. Here B.Lewis displays a whole range of ideas rather than 31 tracks of the same theme, you can be sure to find something for your predilection, bet that. This right here separates B.Lewis from other untold number of young instrumentalists the west-coast has birthed in the past couple years.
