"RIP GSH..and we do what we do and how we do because of you. And to those that don't know tip your hat with a hand over your heart & recognize."
Chuck D.

Awoke today with word that another beautiful creative soul has passed on. Gil Scott Heron was of course a huge inspiration for many. The passing of a master lyricist, singer, orator, keyboard player, and above all a man with unparalleled spirit. He channeled something that people derived huge benefit from. Blessed with fierce intelligence, and a way with words which was untouchable; an incredible sense of humour and a gentleness and humanity that was unique to him, GSH - with his deep raspy baritone - schooled a generation in the way only he knew how.

One of the most most beautiful Gil Scott Heron tributes, is put together by the Polish vinyl only blog Soul-jazz.

"Sometimes less means more and that is why the second part Soul-jazz tribute podcast series lasts for not even half an hour and presents less knows and less revolutionary side of mister Scott-Heron. The lack of most popular works like The Bottle or Revolution Will Not Be Televised is compensated by six unique and so different compositions found in the output of this magnificent artist. Your attention should be attracted by this year’s published My Cloud; one of many excellent examples showing cooperation between Gil Scott-Heron and Malcolm Cecil."

Morning Thoughts (Arista, 1981)
A Prayer For Everybody/To Be Free (Arista, 1978)
Offering (TVT Records, 1975)
A Lovely Day (TVT Records, 1976)
My Cloud (XL Recordings, 2010)
Spirits Past (TVT Records, 1994)
