Dirg Gerner

Photobucket

Dirg Gerner may not yet be as prominent as it will be, but Flako, Olmino, Rahel & Fatima's incarnation signed to Ho_Tep has been garnering some air time courtesy of Benji B, Giles Petersen and the like. This last week Dirg dropped into Alexander Nut's show to serve up a multi course meal of soul featuring some classic dishes to complement the new menu.

Listen in for a macédoine of magnificent music, much of it exclusive and stay tuned for the Preface EP (12" Vinyl EP) out November 2011.

Rinse FM: ARP101 ft Om Unit & B.Bravo

Photobucket

So last week, with Alex Nut's absence on his show, the slot was filled in by Eglo's ARP101 with a 2 hr special which featured esteemed guests Om Unit and Earnest Endeavour's and Frite Nite's own B Bravo.

The show was filled with exclusives from all parties involved and even previewed collaborative works between them during what was an amazing 120 some minutes of ridiculous riddims.

Rinse FM: Numbers Ft Jamie XX

Photobucket

Time we turned our attention to Jamie xx and his steel drums and syncopated drum patterns. “Far Nearer” was officially released this week on Numbers. Jamie xx joined the Numbers posse on Rinse.fm for this hour and 45 min mix that does not discriminate any genre. From old school disco into some deep house into a chopped and screwed “Far Nearer” mashed with “Footcrab” into a steel drum Drake and Wayne mash-up into Burial – this mix has it all.

Krystal Klear - Ampsoul Mix, Rinse FM Mix

Photobucket

Winter rain and the november gloom almost always breed moments of rumination, so what better way to snap back then to do so with a bit of boogie funk! Here's a couple of mixes from Krystal Klear - producer of beats derived straight from 1980-1994. His musical journey has allowed him to create a sound that is truly his own, taking the best elements of new jack swing, 80s boogie and disco and infusing them with a heavy dose of LA swagger and a ridiculous amount of bottom end pressure. His retro futurist style is the soundtrack to a house party where Nino Brown, Dam Funk and Alexander O' Neal are all brocking out while the girl from the karate kid is eating caramel.

With releases on All City, Hoya Hoya and the Green Silver release on Cooly G's Dub Organizer label, Krystal Klear is stepping out of the abyss of the boogie cosmos.

The first mix is courtesy of Jay Scarlett's ampsoul show. A fantastic nu funk, swing oozing - mixtape for us.

This little funk nugget is from Rinse FM on Oct 23rd, where Eglo Records and Ho_Tep peddler, Alex Nut had the pleasure of having Krystal Klear in the studio, bringing much of that uptempo, booty shaking, boogie bizness to the british airwaves. Hace mucho tiempo as some would say.
