Himuro Yoshiteru - Live from Tokyo

Leading on from the brilliant Nihon Kizuna compilation comes the birth of the Tokyo State of Mind series from Rhythm Incursions.

The series officially kicked off a few days ago over at Percussion Lab with a live set by Himuro Yoshiteru, and will continue with live sets from Yosi Horikawa, Daisuke Tanabe and Keizo Machine (on Percussion Lab) and DJ Duct (on Rhythm Incursions). All these live sets were recorded at the Nihon Kizuna Tokyo release party (Himuro, Daisuke, Yosi and Ken One) as well as the Skratch Evolution 3 event organised by Ken One (Duct and KeizoMachine).

Himuro Yoshiteru, included on this compilation, is one of the most under rated modern Japanese producers from the Tokyo electronic underground. His debut release in 1998 was on Worm Interface which the particularly nerdy of you may remember as home to one of the best obscure Squarepusher releases (under the name Tom Jenkinson). Over a decade later, Himuro is still crafting some of the most colorfully diverse sounds out of Japan. This set, recorded in April 2011 at the Nihon Kizuna sompilation release party, sees him putting his 8 bit, dubstep, glitch and idm influences to the forefront in a lively display of the sounds of the Tokyo underground. There's a dreamy thread running through the entirety of Himuro's set that never allows the surrounding abrasiveness to get too aggressive.

To coincide with this, a live show from effervescent Tokyo supporter and friend, Ken One. A standard Ken One affair which sees him chop and cut his way through 30 minutes of classic hip hop, breaks and his own music, including the Mind Rain track which is featured on the Nihon Kizuna compilation. All live of course.
